I remember being taught in kindergarten that when you draw the number 5 you should wait to put the bar at the top on last. Our teacher said the 5 is a man, and the line on the top is his hat. I never saw the man though-or his hat- so I drew it all as one fluid line.
I wonder if it makes a difference if a person's fives are men or not? A dog makes more sense to me.
